Travel Tuesday: Destination Highlight – Dubai, U.A.E

Burrrr, baby it’s cold outside! Who else is looking for a warm vacation gateway??? The U.A.E is one of the few countries open to U.S. citizen, Dubai to be exact. Check out the Dubai travel restrictions and guidelines:

Here are 5 quick cool and interesting facts about Dubai! But first: have you ever been to Dubai or would you like to go there?

  1.  It is estimated that around 15 percent of Dubai’s population are Emiratis, while the other 85 percent are expatriates.
  2.  It’s a very young city: In the early 1700s, Dubai was just a small fishing and pearl-diving village. By the end of the 18th century, about 1,200 people were living there. Fast-forward to today, Dubai has a population of 3.3 million.
  3. It may not be the first in a lot but they different out do everyone: Dubai has the world’s longest automated metro line.
  4. Home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa stand at 2,716 feet.
  5. Lastly, the Palm in Dubai is the world’s largest artificial archipelago. These artificial islands were created out of only sand and rocks. In fact, it took over 3 billion cubic feet of sand from the seabed and 7 million tons of rock from the Hajar Mountains.
