Travel Feature: Hotlanta – Atlanta, GA

Atlanta is a well-known city that has a lot to offer, there are tons of touristy things for people to do. However, this blog feature on Atlanta we will highlight more of the not-so-known city sights of Atlanta.

First, let us discuss the usual city hotspots; you have the various scenic green spaces like Piedmont Park, and Centennial Olympic Park. If you like indoor fun check out the Fox Theatre, College Football Hall of Fame, Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, and Atlanta Zoo which is supposed to one of the country’s best panda exhibits. If you like history, shopping or to drink and dance all night – there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.

After you spend a day or two doing those things, get ready to visit more unique and fun things in ATL:

  • Trap Music Museum: An interactive museum filled with art and exhibits tracing the hip-hop culture created by ATL rapper 2chainz. The attraction includes a jail cell, escape room and holds various events like Sip n’ Trap. It costs only $20 to get in and the best part is the fully stocked bar, pink trap car and stripper pole. The worst part is the long line but well worth it. This spot is a vibe! Full review here. https://trapmusicmuseum.us/
  • Ponce City Market: From an abandon amusement park in the 1800s to a Sears Headquarters, then used as ATL’s City Hall offices for two decades and finally transformed in a hub for luxury apartments, retail shops, eateries, bars and a mini rooftop carnival! Ponce City Market is a mixture of history, urban development, fun, food and games. Skyline Park, The Roof, Nine mile Station, 12 Cocktail Bar are just some of the cool places featured at Ponce City Market. This was the most fun we had in ATL. There is so much to do, you can get lost at this venue and spend all day eating and drinking. Check out a more detailed review of Ponce City Market.
  • Krog Street Tunnel: I have been to ATL several times and I have never even heard of Krog Street tunnel. This is definitely a hidden gem of ATL and makes the city cooler! It is exactly as it sounds, a street tunnel but features brightly colored graffiti. It is completely covered in art. This is a great cultural photo op spot!
  • Botanical Garden: Although this a known spot in a ATL, to me it’s often overlooked and labeled as “boring” or typical. However, that is not the case, boring and typical are the last words I would use to describe these gardens. Magical, mystical, mind blowing, curated, bright and lovely are all the words that matched my experience. Check out our Botanical Gardens Survival Guide to ensure you have the best experience.
  • Local bars and restaurants: The food scene in ATL is pretty comprehensive and filled with tons of delicious options! You may want to visit the city just to eat and be merry! Check out our food tour of Atlanta: Thumbs Up, U bar, Old Lady Gang, Spice House ATL, Krab Boss.
