Thanksgiving Dinner: The Wharf

Yelp Review: I visited The Wharf in Old Town Alexandria, VA, on Thanksgiving Day for an intimate dinner with my mother. They were very accommodating as we needed to switch our dinner reservation back an hour. Upon entering the establishment we were first sat at a table in the corner with barely enough room to pull out my chair. I don’t know why they even have a table there. Again, our request to move was obliged.
Thanksgiving Day dinner consisted of a 3-course meal. We both delighted in the first course; She-Crab soup. I enjoyed the Fresh Atlantic Salmon topped with lump crab meat and homemade hollandaise, served with fresh asparagus and sub-sweet potato puree. My mother had Roasted Herb and Red Wine Turkey with sausage stuffing, sweet potato puree, and cranberry sauce. To our pleasant surprise, the third course was more of a sampler, indulging in both pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

TAKEAWAYS:

– The restaurant ambiance was great; rustic and charming!
– Server service was adequate; he did take a little long to take our order down.
– The food was tasty but nothing to write home about.
– Prices were relatively decent.

Yours truly,
