Halfway through the summer, quarantine is over sort of. Various states across the U.S. are already opening back after barely 2 months of “lockdown”. We have seen protests, marches and fights over keeping states locked down and safe. The President and his cabinet are confused per usual and a variety of mixed messages have plagued the news media. Hoax or global health pandemic, test of no test, lockdown or reopen and mask or no mask. Each day is just as confusing as the previous one day there is no clear way forward.
Things get even more confusing here in the DMV aka DC Metro Area. Washington D.C, Maryland and Virginia are all in different phases of reopening and the restrictions aren’t the same either. Below is some quick information on where each state in the DMV is in the process of reopening:
- Washington D.C.
- The District’s reported data for Thursday, July 2, 2020 includes 45 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 10,435.
- The District of Columbia Government entered Phase 2 Reopening on June 22, 2020 and is still in phase two.
- Persons must wear a mask in the common areas of apartments, condominiums and cooperatives.
- Bars, nightclubs and mixed-use facilities shall remain closed.
- Curfew hours are 12:01 am to 6 am, seven days a week. For more info on Phase 2 in DC visit.
- Virginia
- By the end of June, Virginia’s total number of corona-virus cases was 60,570.Virginia.
- Phase Three began on July 1, 2020.
- Buffets may be open for self-service, with continuous monitoring by trained staff required at food lines, and serving utensils must be changed hourly during peak meal times.
- Face covering/mask order applies to everyone 10 and over.
- Most businesses in VA are now open with health requirements and restrictions. For more information on Phase 3, click here.
I don’t why you would want to go to MD but if you must, here are their guidelines:
- Maryland
- Maryland has a total of 67,918 confirmed infections as of the first day of July.
- On June 5, Maryland moved into Stage Two of recovery with the safe and gradual reopening of workplaces and non-essential businesses.
- All Marylanders over the age of five are required to wear face coverings in the public spaces of all businesses across the state.
- Face coverings are now required in outdoor public areas, whenever it is not possible to maintain physical distancing.
