Best places in D.C. to get oysters…
As soon as it hit the third month of this year, the sun cracked open the sky and showed out! Yes, March is still considered winter, but the forecasting of spring has brought the DMV area some much needed sunshine. You know what goes perfectly with a sunny day, a mild 65-degree temperature? A water-front view with a beer and slurping down a full tray of a dozen oysters!
There are a tons of places in the D.C. Metro area that offer oysters; have your pick of either raw, boiled or steamed, Cajun style, as a Po’ boy sandwich, drink it as a cocktail shooter or even try some cornmeal crusted oysters. Yes, you read that right, jump down to the list below to see where!
For this week’s foodie highlight we are running through 5 places where you can get the best oysters in Washington D.C. – happy hour specials are not guaranteed but I am sure you will be happy just because you are enjoying one of nature’s delicacies.
- First on the list is my personal favorite, Vola’s Dockside in Old Town Alexandria. This is a triple threat combination: great oysters, awesome waterfront view and happy drinks!
- Old Ebbitt Grill is DC’s version of old reliable, a great place to get strong drinks and the best oyster happy hour around.
- Clyde’s is a well know local restaurant chain with various locations. I usually only go there for the raw bar menu and they have a raw bar happy hour twice a day, enough said!
- Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, with a name like that you definitely want to trust this place with having some really good oysters. This is the spot to try those cornmeal crusted oysters I mentioned earlier.
- Looking to eat with a good conscious? Rappahannock Oysters Co. farm and harvest their oyster with sustainability. They have two locations; on the Wharf and Union Market, make sure to also try their oyster po’ boy sandwich.
Due to COVID-19, it is highly recommended to you call prior to visiting to ensure restaurant hours and happy hour availability.
