It is safe to say D.C. has officially reopened! Normally, there’s always something to do in the DMV area but this weekend it seems like there is everything to do. DC Fashion Week started last night with a networking party and continues all weekend! Black Restaurant Week: Black Restaurant Week is presenting its 2nd annual campaign in the Greater Washington DC Region from September 17 – 26, 2021. This year they’ve expanded participation from restaurants to food trucks, sweets and more. DC Beer Week: Beer focused events from September 19-26, all around the DMV! This year’s theme is Solidarity! Bringing together breweries, bars, restaurants, and local beer-lovers for good drinks, creating good vibes and celebrating making it through the pandemic together. Oktoberfest in DC: A German themed beer garden, WunderGarden is hosting the best and largest event of the year. It will feature four weekends full of German cuisine, live bands, Bavarian games, DJ parties, and of course lots of beer. The festival started on the 17th and will conclude on Sunday, October 10th. DC’s free overnight arts festival is back in-person!

DC Art All Night will take place from 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM the following morning on two nights—September 24 and 25. The festival will take place in sixteen (16) neighborhoods with different activations on each night, bringing visual and performing arts, including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, fashion, music, dance, theater, film, and poetry, to indoor and outdoor public and private spaces, including local businesses and restaurants. Van Ness Main Street’s Art All Night 2021 will be an evening filled with local music, dance, performance, art and community all along Connecticut Ave in Van Ness, Forest Hills and Wakefield. NEXT FEST: From noon till dark on Saturday, Sept. 25, come through for the first annual NEXTfest at Malcolm X Park/Meridian Hill, celebrating DC’s jazz, funk and go-go music culture. This is a celebration of DC culture, as well as DC music. Malcolm X Park is a DC landmark on sacred Nacotchtank and Piscataway land, and just a few blocks from the century-old heart center of DC’s music scene: U Street. Cultural programming will take place all afternoon, across the street from Malcolm X Park, at the Josephine Butler Parks Center. The annual festival at Butler’s Orchard Pumpkin Festival in Germantown has something to delight every child and adult. Tickets include all the climbing and jumping and visits to the barn, and pumpkins can be purchased for 69 cents per pound. Note that visitors must reserve a specific time slot for entry, and visitors without advance tickets may be turned away if the farm is full. @rightproperbeer BLOCK PARTY! Join the vibes at a Right Proper Block Party, hosted by Right Proper Brewing, an Indivisible Art Collective and Black Brew Movement, featuring live music, art vendors and the Black Beer Garden. From 5pm to midnight on Saturday, September 25th, we’ll be hanging out on T Street NW, between 7th St NW and Florida Ave NW. George Washington Patriot Run: Run down the George Washington Memorial Parkway right up to George Washington’s mansion on Mount Vernon with this special September run, which will also be offered in a virtual format. Both a 5K and 10-Miler will be offered in-person with safety protocols in place. After the race, you can enjoy concessions, live music and beer (if you’re over the age of 21). District Cleanups is hosting another #cleanup will be at Tidal Basin on Sunday, September 26th at Thomas Jefferson Memorial at 10am. Afterwards the group will loop around the Tidal Basin and grab drinks at The Wharf! Bring Your Own Trash Bag, water, and sunscreen. If you have them, bring your gloves and grabbers. Recommendation: It may get a little muddy so don’t wear your freshest kicks to the event!

Family Fun! Carousel 100th Anniversary Final Celebration September 26, 2021, 11am to 4pm. Celebratory close out to the carousel’s 100th anniversary season with a special celebration, including performances, family crafts, carousel rides, and more. The event will also include a Sponsor Hospitality Tent for Carousel 100th Anniversary sponsors. Event activities run through 4pm, but the carousel remains open until 6pm for the final day of the season. All activities except carousel rides are free.
